OpenAlt Conference started 2014 by combination of two conferences called LinuxAlt and Openmobility. LinuxAlt had a long tradition going back to 2006 and focused on Open Software and Technologies. With 500 visitors, LinuxAlt became the largest event of that type in the Czech Republic. Openmobility started 2010 and brought topics about open mobile platforms and open hardware through classic talks and practical workshops.
OpenAlt takes the best of both LinuxAlt and Openmobility and expands the topics to also include open data, open science and access in both the government and private sector. OpenAlt also emphasises topics of free culture and education.
